The Network is an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students committed to contributing to the university’s mission to bridge faith and scholarship by supporting the global movement for humanistic, inclusive and socially responsible management through research, advocacy, and professional education.
The Network supports the College’s signatory commitment to the Principles of Responsible Management Education led by the United Nations Global Compact. In particular:
Principle 4 | Research: We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental and economic value,
Principle 5 | Partnership: We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges.
Principle 6 | Dialogue: We will facilitate and support dialog and debate among educators, students, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organisations and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability.

The Network conducts critical realist, interdisciplinary research infused with Catholic social principles to understand the contexts and forces which influence business leaders in adopting more humanistic and socially responsible practices and the outcomes of such practices for the well-being of various stakeholders. Research projects, both conceptual and empirical, include the development of multi-stakeholder models of business for educational and management development, case studies of humanistic and socially responsible managers and companies, developments in multi-stakeholder corporate governance policies and practices, among others.

Interdisciplinary research supports the Network’s advocacy through business columns, fora and dialogues with business leaders, recognition programs, collaborative projects with business-oriented organizations and policy advocacies with government agencies and legislative offices.
It collaborates with the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) in promoting socially responsible business practice and the Shareholders Association of the Philippines (SharePHIL) in promoting inclusive governance of publicly-listed corporations. In partnership with SharePHIL, the network successfully petitioned the Securities and Exchange Commission to encourage corporate boards to attend to the needs of the corporatios’ various stakeholders aside from stockholders.
The Network maintains the Managing for Society column in The Manila Times where faculty in management and related disciplines promote ideas and practices related to humanistic management. It also contributes to the View from Taft column in BusinessWorld.
The Network has active linkages with international groups pursuing organizational and management forms and practices which support human flourishing such as the Action Research Plus Network, the International Humanistic Management Association, the UN Principles the Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Responsible Research for Business and Management network.
