DLSU signs MOA with Women’s Business Council Philippines


De La Salle University signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Women’s Business Council Philippines (WBCP) on December 2, 2014. The MOA sets the stage for the conduct of a research project titled ‘Inventory of women entrepreneurship studies in the Philippines’, which aims to come up with a comprehensive inventory of studies on women entrepreneurship in the Philippines that policy makers, government agencies, non-government organizations, and other research institutions could tap as a resource for their decision making and for the implementation of their activities. The project will be undertaken by a team led by Dr. Divina Edralin of the Management and Organization Department.

Signatories for DLSU are Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Dr. Raymond Girard Tan and Center for Business Research and Development (CBRD) Director Dr. Raymund B. Habaradas. Signing for WBCP are its President Ms. Pacita Juan and its Vice President Ms. Chiqui Escareal-Go.

Is there room for responsible management and sustainable business in a borderless world?

This was the question that the 2nd National Business and Management Conference (NBMC) sought to answer through a presentation of different researches and papers by faculty members, researchers and graduate students coming from different universities in Luzon and Visayas.  The 2nd NBMC was held last October 17-18, 2014 at the Andrew Gonzalez Hall, De La Salle University, and tackled various topics related to the theme “Responsible management and sustainable business in a borderless world”.

Zamagni talks about globalization, poverty, business, and CST


Is there a relationship between globalization, poverty, business and Catholic Social Teaching?  This was the question that Stefano Zamagni of the University of Bologna and John Hopkins University, SAIS Europe tackled in his plenary speech on February 26, 2014, the first day of the 9th International Conference on Catholic Social Thought (CST) and Business Education, which was held at De La Salle University. Zamagni reflected on the relationship between globalization and poverty, approaches to cope with poverty, role of business on the scandal of poverty and offered some practical suggestions based on the CST.
