Dr. Jose Ramon Albert

Dr. Albert is former Secretary General of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), and is a senior research fellow of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS). He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics as a Department of Science Technology (DOST) Scholar at the De La Salle University in Manila in 1985. He earned both his Master of Science in Statistics degree (1989) and his doctoral degree in Statistics (1993) from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Prior to his appointment as NSCB Secretary General, Dr. Albert served as consultant of development agencies such as the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UNSIAP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Department for International Development. He also served as consultant of various government agencies of in different countries: Malaysia’s Economic Planning Unit, Lao’s Department of Statistics, the Qatar General Secretariat for Development Planning, the Malawi Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, and Ethiopia’s Central Statistics Agency, among others. Dr. Albert had also worked as Professorial Lecturer of Statistics at the University of the Philippines, Diliman; Graduate School of Business, De La Salle University, Manila; and, as Adjunct Faculty Member of the Asian Institute of Management, Makati City.

For many years, Dr. Albert has been actively involved in various efforts towards statistical development of the country being a member of various NSCB Technical Committees/ Technical Working Groups on Poverty Statistics, Survey Design, Seasonal Adjustment of Philippine Time Series and Population and Housing Statistics, cognizant of his statistical expertise on these areas.

Dr. Elfren S. Cruz

Dr. Elfren Cruz is a Senior Professional Lecturer at the Management and Organization Department (MOD) of the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVR-COB) of De La Salle University (DLSU). He earned his Doctor of Business Administration from DLSU. A leader in the field of business management, his professional experience includes being the Chairman of numerous businesses such as Lockton Philippines Insurance and Reinsurance Brokers Inc., Corporate Risk Management International, Inc., Peotraco Industries, The Worldwide Lifestyle Timepieces, Inc., Technovation, Inc., Times Trading Inc., Printwell Group of Companies, and DBH Equity Holdings, Inc. He is also a regular columnist for the Philippine Star.

Aside from leading various organizations, Dr. Cruz is also a member of different professional organizations such as the Makati Business Club, Management Association of the Philippines, Manila Jaycees Senate, La Sallian Legacy Fund, AIM Alumni Association, and the DLSU Alumni Association.

Dr. Cruz’s research interests cover family business and strategic management. He authored a book entitled “Setting Frameworks: Family Business and Strategic Management”, which won a National Book Award for Best Book in Business and Economics as bestowed by the Manila Critics Circle. An excellent writer, he also won the Catholic Mass Media Award for Best Business Column when he was still writing for the Business World.

Dr. Eduardo “Ned” Roberto

Dr. Ned Roberto is one of Asia’s leading authorities on marketing, and is a much sought after consultant, speaker, author, and educator. He is currently research fellow and director of the Social Weather Stations, and is also a research mentor to faculty members of the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business of De La Salle University. He teaches marketing research at the M.E. Program of Ateneo, Rockwell Campus, and social marketing and social marketing research at the ABS-CBN Bayan Academy and the Development Academy of the Philippines. He has also taught at the Asian Institute of Management, Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Chicago Campus) and at the Euro-Asia Centre of INSEAD (Macau and Singapore programs).

Dr. Roberto has done extensive consultancy and mentoring work region-wide for national and transnational corporations and multinational agencies. He has also conducted in-house seminars for Fortune 500 companies in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In the Philippines, he has been consultant and mentor for marketing planning, product management, and marketing research to practically all the leading multinational corporations in the consumer goods, pharmaceutical, household products, beverage, cosmetics, processed food, banking, advertising, and airline industries.

In 1983, Dr. Roberto received the Philippine Marketing Association’s Agora Award for Marketing Education. He is the author (with Philip Kotler) of Social Marketing, as well as User-Friendly Marketing Research, Strategic Market Segmentation, Socio Economic Classification of Consumers, Segmenting, How to Change the World: A Manual for Social Marketers and Quick-but-Clean Social Marketing Research.

Dr. Raymond Girard Tan

Dr. Raymond Girard R. Tan is a University fellow and a full professor of the Chemical Engineering Department at De La Salle University. He is also the University’s Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation. He finished Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering in 2002, Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1998 and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1994 from De La Salle University, Manila.

Dr. Tan is the author of more than thirty articles in ISI-indexed journals. His fields of specialization include: environmental system modeling life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental decision support systems, life cycle analysis, environmental decision support systems, process mass integration/water pinch technology, fuzzy modeling techniques and chemical engineering.

Dr. Tan is a member of the editorial board of the ISI-indexed Springer Journal Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy; Visiting Researcher at Chung Yuan University, Taiwan (January, 2008); University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Malaysia (March, 2007; April 2008); Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia (August, 2006; February, 2008); International Flame Research Foundation, The Netherlands (September – December, 2004); University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom (January – March, 2001).

His scientific awards include the following: Outstanding Scientific Paper Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology (2008, 2006 and 2004); Achievement Award from the National Research Council of the Philippines (2007); Outstanding Poster Presentation at the 28th Annual Scientific Meeting of the National Academy of Science and Technology (2006); Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology (2004); Special Citation in the National Academy of Science and Technology-DuPont Talent Search for Young Scientists (2004); Miguel Febres Cordero Research Award from De La Salle University (2004); Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation from De La Salle University (2002).
