4th NBMC tackles responsible management and sustainable business

De La Salle University, Ateneo de Davao University, and the University of San Carlos, in collaboration with the Philippine Academy of Management, held the 4th National Business and Management Conference last July 22 to 23, 2016 at the Ateneo de Davao University.

The conference, which carried the theme “Tackling local, national, and regional challenges through responsible management and sustainable business,” was inspired by the business sector’s call for responsible management and sustainable practices amidst issues simultaneously arising from local, national, and regional setting, such as the ASEAN integration. The conference recognized how leaders and managers of organizations are forced to revisit their strategic plans and operations and called for cross-sector collaborations and building stronger ecosystems.

The conference’s keynote speaker was Ms. Jeannie Javellosa, co-founder of ECHOstore, GREAT WOMEN, and ECHOsi Foundation, who talked about how the ECHOsi Foundation promotes women entrepreneurship across the country. Featured plenary speakers included DLSU School of Economics Full Professor Dr. Myrna Austria, who talked about “The Philippines in the AEC: Challenges and Opportunities”; RVR College of Business Full Professor Dr. Benito Teehankee, who tackled “Building actionable knowledge for responsible management and sustainable business practices: The role of critical realism”, and Mr. Stephen A. Antig, Executive Director of the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association, who talked about efforts of the industry to become globally competitive.
