Dr. Tim Rogers conducts seminar on critical realism and action science

DLSU, AIM co-organize case writing seminar

 

Are you learner-centered or teacher centered?  Are you the type who is more concerned with the learning of the student or the teaching process? The more learner-centred one is, the more appropriate teaching with cases is. This was the underlying message of resource person Dr. Fernando Roxas during the 1st Case Writing Seminar jointly organized by the Center for Business Research and Development (CBRD) of De La Salle University (DLSU) and the Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism (ALT-CFT) of the Asian Institute of Management last March 20, 2015 at the DLSU.

CBRD co-organizes case writing seminar

 

The DLSU Center for Business Research and Development co-organized a case writing workshop with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) – Dr. Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism (AIM-ALT-CFT) at the DLSU Faculty Center on March 20, 2015. This workshop. attended by faculty members from AIM and DLSU, was designed to develop a pool of researchers and writers of teaching cases and teaching notes that can be used in business and management classes in Philippine colleges and universities. At the end of the workshop, the participants are expected to be equipped with the following skills: using a teaching case, writing a teaching case, understanding the basics of a multimedia case, and writing a teaching note.

Serving as workshop facilitator is AIM-ALT-CFT Executive Director Fernando Y. Roxas, who is also a core faculty of AIM’s W. SyCip Graduate School of Business. He teaches Operations Management, Quantitative Analysis, Systems Thinking, Project Management and other basic modules in the Degree and Executive Learning Programs of the Institute. In terms of research, Roxas has published internationally in peer-reviewed, energy journals. One of his recent works has recently been cited as outstanding by the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2013. He is also the pioneer and premier proponent of the multi-media case format in AIM.

Roxas has a Master’s degree in engineering geology from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand; and an MBA from the AIM. He obtained his Doctor of Business Administration, with High Distinction, from the De La Salle University Graduate School of Business. An acknowledged expert in the field of energy, with about 30 years of experience in the sector, he routinely does projects for multilateral and bilateral agencies.

 

CBRD and VD-RAGS hold action research seminar

The Center for Business Research and Development (CBRD) and the Office of the Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies (VD-RAGS) of the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVRCOB) co-sponsored a seminar featuring action research expert Dr. David Coghlan. Members of the academic community of De La Salle University (DLSU) and several guests from other institutions attended the seminar titled “Doing Action Research in Your Own Organization”, which was held at the Ariston Estrada Seminar Room on July 12, 2013.
